We all love pottery. One or the other form of pottery is always around us. Pottery is the vibe of our living room, aroma of the kitchen and beauty of our garden. However have we ever thought of keeping them ever shining. This will keep our mood high and vibrant. Always keep in mind that all the pottery items need different handling and care. Lets see how to keep up with their beauty in easy to do methods.
Â
To maintain the quality of the indoor pottery like
vases and
kitchen pottery , do not expose it to direct sunlight . This may discolour the bright pottery. Do not write with a pen on showcase pottery. Blot spills immediately with clean cloth. Dust often using soft, clean, lint free cloth. Avoid harsh fabrics, paper towels or disposable dusting towels as they may scratch the surface.Â
To clean, wipe with a soft damp cloth. Avoid the use of chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Avoid spraying glass cleaners on the ceramic pottery.
Â
Growing a garden in plant pots is an increasingly popular way to adorn your outdoor space. Even small space dwellers have the option to create a garden. For outdoor pottery like
garden pottery, brush them regularly to remove dust and dirt. For spot cleaning, sponge lightly with a solution of mild soap and  warm water. But before this use a stiff brush to remove all the dried soil and debris from the pots or bird bath. Fill a sink or large container with warm water and dish soaps and add a cup of vinegar. Wash the pots with scrubby brush to thoroughly remove all the debris and staining. After this rinse them well and dry in sun.

Â
Pottery and china clay accumulate more than dust over the years. Oil from our hand, smoke from a fireplace, grease from cooking stove. All of this builds up over the  years, combines with dust and dirt and forms stains on the surface of pottery. Everytime you take out your
cup,
plate,
teapot,
jug,
mug,
egg cup,
cake stand,
bowl, just spend few minutes on them. Either swipe with cleaning rag or soaking in soap water may help. Never use chlorine bleach product on pottery.
Â
These basic steps will keep the pottery ever shining and in good state. However always remember that pottery is a very delicate thing. Vigorous cleaning may fade the colour or damage the finish.
So always opt for simple cleaning methods rather than choosing harsh chemicals.
